The world of the celebrity assistant may at first seem like a glamorous one but one watch of the film The Devil Wears Prada should tell you that it’s not the A-list job it seems.

While a celebrity assistant may travel the world and mingle with superstars (or not if you end up being the assistant of Lisa Scott Lee), you need to remember that a celebrity assistant is just that – a person who assists a celebrity. In short you will be a dogsbody for someone who is richer, more famous and probably more attractive than you and who knows it all.

The celebrity personal assistant is the unsung hero of the showbiz world, the person who answers to every whim of a celebrity at 4am on Christmas Day and never gets thanked for it. They carry bags, book restaurants, buy flowers at 2am in the morning and, if you're Madonna's assistant, search for bogies up nostrils.

That said, of course, there are perks to the job.
