Diagnosed With Development Dyspraxia
At a young age I was given a diagnosis that was to change my life - Developmental Dyspraxia. Dyspraxia is a condition which can affect all areas of a person’s existence from movement and coordination as well as other difficulties such as Dyslexia. However, with hard work and determination many adults can virtually overcome this disability. I am one such example.

I was one of the first children to be given an official diagnosis of Dyspraxia at the age of five at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. At this time not a lot was known about this condition or the way in which it would impinge on my life in the years to come …

At a young age I developed a strong sense of character that has carried me well through the years. I was always a stubborn person who did not give up and was competent in leading myself in the right directions.

Growing Up With Bullying
Growing up for me was tough. I faced years of bullying from my peers who didn’t understand my difficulties or what I was truly capable of. I battled for years with weight issues though I was determined despite everything I wouldn’t give up. I believed I could transform situations which were failing and turn them round to be positive and successful.

I achieved top grades at school and university and I wanted to give something back and inspire people towards achieving success in the same way I have. I work within education at an inclusion centre for children on the Autistic Spectrum aged 11-16. I am also using my experiences and am training to be a teacher of SPLD (Specific Learning Difficulties). I am branching into working with Autistic children and into a Dyspraxia advisory, tutoring service.

Benefits of Losing Weight
Through losing weight I have become more positive in my abilities to achieve. Although I have always had the ability to do well I feel my past has played an instrumental role with regards to the determination needed to transform through losing the weight.

The POINTS® System was straightforward to follow. I could eat practically what I wanted, therefore I didn’t feel I was on a diet or that I was depriving myself. Along the way I was supported in abundance by my family and close network – they were instrumental in supporting me towards my goal. And thanks to my local gym I am now at elite level of fitness and have recently taking part in a 10 mile run.

I wish to tell people that success and achievement is realistic and you can achieve the unthinkable - you just have to believe you can do it and not give up until you get there!
