A man accused of an axe-wielding rampage in Bedford hospital has appeared in court
A man accused of an axe-wielding rampage in a hospital accident and emergency department appeared in court.
Derek Hunt, 46, of Beechdale Road, Bedford, appeared before magistrates in the town charged with criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was arrested on Thursday morning after an incident at Bedford Hospital's A&E department.
Police were called after an axe was used to smash cameras and the security glass protecting the reception desk in A&E. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Hunt was remanded in custody by Bedford Magistrates Court to appear at Luton Crown Court on December 4, a court spokeswoman said.
