Scouts deliver vaccination letters
Scouts have been recruited to deliver swine flu jab appointment letters during the postal strike.
The boys and girls from 256 scouts at Christ Church, in Hengrove, Bristol, have spent the last two weekends delivering 2,500 letters for Whitchurch Health Centre.
The practice asked the scouts if they could help deliver the letters to make sure that patients who are due to have the swine flu vaccination receive their appointment in time.
The scouts will continue their rounds during their half-term break this week.
Steve Davies, practice manager at Whitchurch Health Centre, said: "We are absolutely delighted that this community-based approach to contacting patients about their swine flu vaccinations has been so successful.
"The scouts have enjoyed participating in such an important task and we have been really pleased to know that we have succeeded in reaching our 'at-risk' population and telling them about our vaccination programme.
"Without the help and assistance of the scouts, contacting our key patients would have been very difficult, especially with a national mail strike."
